First day in Chicago
Hello to all and greetings for the Windy City,
We arrived in Chicago yesterday afternoon and I have to say
that this city is one of the cleanest and calmest ‘big’ cities that I have ever
been to.
We had a nice flight into O’Hare airport and our hotel is
the Sheraton Towers. We have been
very pleased with everything so far.
Yesterday, we spent the day getting acclimated to our new
home for the week. We went for a
delicious lunch at the Hard Rock Café – Chicago. It is a great Hard Rock, nice open floor plan and as always,
good food and great music.
We have been using cabs to get around the city and I just
can’t believe how ‘quiet’ the city seems.
Last night, we went to Gino’s East on Superior Street for
dinner. This restaurant was
featured on the Food Network show: Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, with Guy
Feretti. I watch that show, so
when I was planning this trip, I knew that I wanted to go eat there. Well, I was not disappointed. The pizza was legendary as they claim
it to be and we enjoyed every bite.
We also left our mark on the walls. It is tradition to write on the walls.
On Monday, we woke up and went to the Hancock Building. It is the fourth tallest building in
Chicago, just shy of the Willis (Sears) Tower and did some fabulous sight
seeing. 95 floors up and a great
surround view of Chicago.
For dinner, we headed to the Weber Grill Restaurant. We have a Weber grill at home and
Michael thought eating there would be fun. They cook your food table-side, right on grills.
Overall, so far, Chicago has been easy to navigate around,
cabs all the way, and the food terrific.
Tomorrow is a dancing day.
We will catch up after that,
Sharon
